Privacy Policy

Effective date: February 3, 2026
Last updated: February 3, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how AppCore LLC (the company operating ReVal, the iOS app) ("ReVal," "AppCore," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

This Privacy Policy is intended to describe our practices in plain language and to meet common disclosure requirements (including U.S. state privacy laws). It is not legal advice.

If you are a resident of a U.S. state with an enacted consumer privacy law, see State-Specific Disclosures below.

1) Information we collect (and how we collect it)

We collect information in three ways: (A) information you provide, (B) information collected automatically when you use the Service, and (C) information from third parties.

A. Information you provide to us

  • Account information (optional): If you create an account, we receive information needed to authenticate you (for example, an account identifier and, depending on the provider, your name and/or email address).
    • If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may provide your name and email address, and you may choose to use Apple's private email relay.
    • If you use Google sign-in, Google may provide information such as your name and email address.
  • Item photos and scans: Photos you capture or select from your photo library for item scanning/analysis.
  • Scan history content: Scan results, item titles/descriptions, notes you add, favorites, and related metadata (such as timestamps).
  • Support communications: If you contact us (for example, by email), we receive the contents of your message and contact details you provide.

B. Information we collect automatically

When you use the Service, we (and our service providers) may automatically receive certain information, such as:

  • Device and app information: Device type/model, operating system version, app version, language, and similar technical signals.
  • Identifiers: Identifiers associated with your device or app instance (for example, analytics identifiers used to measure usage and improve reliability).
  • Usage information: Feature interactions and events (for example, app opens, scan started/completed/failed, paywall shown, subscription checkout started).
  • Network information: IP address and general network/connection information may be processed by our infrastructure and vendors when requests are made to our servers or third-party services.
  • Local, on-device storage: The app may store scan metadata and images locally on your device to improve performance and support offline access. (You can remove this by deleting scans in-app and/or uninstalling the app.)

We do not collect precise location data unless we add a feature that requests it and you grant permission. As of this version of the app, we do not request location permissions.

C. Information from third parties

We may receive information from third parties in connection with operating the Service, such as:

  • Authentication providers: Apple and Google (as described above).
  • App Store / StoreKit: Apple provides subscription and purchase status signals (for example, whether your subscription is active). We do not receive your full payment card number.
  • Product data sources: When you use a UPC lookup feature, a third-party product database may return product information associated with a UPC (e.g., title/brand/category/images).

2) How we use information

We use information for purposes including:

  • Provide core functionality: Identify items, generate item descriptions, estimate value ranges, show scan history, and sync data across devices when you are signed in.
  • Operate and maintain the Service: Authentication, account management, security controls, and basic operations.
  • AI-assisted analysis: Process item images and related inputs to produce an item identification and value estimate.
  • Real-time pricing and market references: Query public marketplace data sources and/or third-party product databases to estimate price ranges and provide supporting context.
  • Customer support: Respond to your requests and troubleshoot issues.
  • Communications: Send service-related messages (such as important updates, security notices, or account-related messages). We may also enable push notifications in a future version of the app; you can control push permissions in iOS Settings.
  • Improve and debug: Analyze usage trends, diagnose crashes/bugs, and improve performance and user experience.
  • Fraud, abuse, and security: Detect and prevent misuse of the Service and protect users and our systems.
  • Compliance and enforcement: Comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, and enforce our terms and policies.

3) AI, item images, and "do not upload sensitive info"

When you use scanning/analysis features, item images you provide may be processed by our backend and vendors to generate results.

  • What we send: Item images (and, in some cases, an item title or related scan context) may be transmitted to our servers for processing.
  • No facial recognition: We do not use your images for facial recognition or to identify individuals. However, images can incidentally contain people or personal information.
  • Please avoid sensitive content: Do not upload images that include sensitive personal information (for example: government IDs, financial account information, health information, or other highly sensitive data).

4) How we share information

We share information only as described below:

A. Service providers and processors

We use third-party vendors ("service providers" / "processors") that process information on our behalf to operate the Service, such as:

  • Cloud infrastructure providers (hosting, databases, file storage, and server-side processing)
  • Analytics providers (to measure usage, troubleshoot issues, and improve features)
  • AI processing providers (to help generate item identification and value estimates from images you submit)
  • Authentication providers (to support sign-in)
  • Product data providers (for UPC and similar lookups)

These providers process data under their own terms and privacy practices (and, where applicable, under contractual restrictions with us).

Marketplace / pricing sources

To provide pricing estimates, we may retrieve information from publicly available marketplace sources. Queries to these sources may include item titles, keywords, or UPCs. We do not intentionally provide your name or email address to these sources as part of pricing queries, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by any marketplace unless expressly stated.

B. Legal, safety, and rights

We may disclose information if we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to:

  • Comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or lawful governmental request
  • Protect the rights, property, and safety of ReVal, our users, or others
  • Investigate, prevent, or take action regarding suspected fraud, abuse, or security issues
  • Enforce our terms, agreements, and policies

C. Business transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction (subject to appropriate confidentiality and notice requirements).

D. With your consent / at your direction

We may share information when you request or direct us to do so.

E. Aggregated or de-identified information

We may share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.

5) Selling, sharing, and targeted advertising

  • No sale of personal information: We do not sell your personal information.
  • No targeted advertising: We do not use your information to serve third-party targeted ads based on your activity across apps or websites ("cross-context behavioral advertising"), and we do not share personal information for that purpose.

6) Data retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service and for legitimate business purposes, such as security, dispute resolution, and compliance.

Examples:

  • Account + scan history: If you are signed in, scan history and associated metadata may be retained until you delete scans or delete your account.
  • Stored images: If you choose to upload scan images for syncing/history, they may be retained until deleted by you (or until account deletion is processed).
  • Analytics and logs: Analytics and server logs may be retained for a period necessary for debugging, security, and performance analysis, then deleted or de-identified.

7) Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8) Your choices and controls

You can control your information in several ways:

  • Delete scans: You can delete scans within the app (which removes associated scan history data, and may remove associated stored images depending on your settings and sync state).
  • Delete your account: If you are signed in, you can request permanent account deletion from within the app's Settings. This is designed to delete your user record and associated scan data stored in our backend.
  • Sign-in controls: You can manage sign-in authorizations through your Apple ID and/or Google account settings.
  • Device permissions: You can control camera and photo library permissions in iOS Settings.
  • Push notifications (if enabled): If we add push notifications in the future, you can enable/disable them at any time in iOS Settings.
  • Uninstall: You can uninstall the app to remove locally stored app data on your device (subject to iOS behavior and any system backups you control).

9) Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

10) International transfers

We are based in the United States, and our vendors may process information in the U.S. and other countries. These countries may have data protection laws different from those in your jurisdiction.

11) Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will revise the "Last updated" date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice within the Service or by other means.
